Students demonstrate their Engineering Entrepreneurship Program innovations

Mar 21, 2007

Student-run companies Digital Learning Solutions and Race KITS, sponsored by the College of Engineering’s Engineering Entrepreneurs Program (EEP), presented their innovative new products last Monday at the College of Engineering’s Innovator’s Forum.

Digital Learning Solutions, a company that uses Nintendo’s portable DS gaming unit in an innovative approach to studying, and Race KITS, a company that created a web technology to keep track of various race car statistics, were both created by students enrolled in ECE480/481 with guidance and funding supplied by the EEP.  The EEP allows students an opportunity to create their own products, companies, and teams for their senior design projects.

Dr. Tom Miller created the Engineering Entrepreneurs Program in 1993 to teach students technical, business, and teamwork skills to develop marketable products and innovations. Originally created solely for the College of Engineering, the EEP became a university-wide program in 2002, and since its start more than 300 students have participated in it.
