Two of our ECE students, Sam Marcom and Dario Muller, have won first place in the annual VenturePack Challenge, for their start-up CN-Seamless, a device for precise field steel fabrication.

Originating in 2009, the VenturePack Challenge, formerly known as eGames, is an NC State student competition created for the purpose of providing guidance, resources, mentorship, and cash to NC State student entrepreneurs. All ventures, organizational types, sizes,s and stages are welcome in the eGames.

The competition has two tracks – the student track and the Daugherty Endowment Track for officially registered startup companies that have licensed NC State intellectual property in the past three years.

Teams must undergo two rounds of judging across different categories, measuring everything from market feasibility, to a financial strategy and beyond. The student track is open to all undergraduate and graduate teams comprising at least 50% degree-seeking NC State students.

CN-Seamless is a lightweight and entirely mobile CNC oxy-acetylene torch-cutting product that Marcom, Muller, and their MAE alumni partner, Josh Cooper, believe could revolutionize the fabrication process. Complete with an electromagnet base that mounts directly to any steel workpiece, tunable gas control that streamlines finding the perfect fuel ratio, and a user-focused touchscreen controller; the CN-Seamless is intended to be a tool that anyone can learn to use and implement into their workshops or on the job site in a matter of hours.

Marcom and Muller entered the eGames competition with the CN-Seamless Mach 1 which is now available for purchase on their website. Competing with over 10 other start-ups, the CN-Seamless won first place and $10,000!

Congratulations to our ECE students, we love watching the ways you #ThinkandDo!
